Saffron is a valuable spice that has many benefits. Its main region is South Asia and it was first cultivated in Iran and Kashmir. Then slowly the Mongols spread it to other parts of the world.


Saffron is called saffron in English, Kurdish in Latin and Greek, saffron in Bengali and saffron in Hindi.

Saffron from countries like Iran, Spain, Auckland, Netherlands, India and Brazil is popular all over the world. The world produces about two and a half tons of saffron every year. Iran is the only country that meets 90% of the world's demand for saffron.
